Looking for some neat ideas/quality of life improvements aka lifehacks I guess
Oh I’ve got a really good one. If you’ve got a Dyson vacuum, eventually the battery will die. Don’t replace it with another Dyson battery! Instead get one of these:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09W2K4SVT
And get a couple Dewalt 20V batteries (20V is important, don’t use 18V batteries).
Boom, you’ve got an interchangeable battery system for your Dyson!
I got an e-bike! Well, an e-trike. I work like, maybe three miles from home, so it never made sense to drive.
Was so sick of electric toothbrush heads and how to store them without a manky mess; even the manufacturer’s holder was a mould trap.
Simplest but most effective fuckin thing I’ve ever seen -
I got a multimeter for DIY electrical stuff.
Sound Cancelling headphones, one of the best buys in my life, as an autistic person it really helps a lot, for going about the day to day.
My local discount zoo of a store was selling cold brew tea for a dollar so now I have twenty-four boxes of cold brew Watermelon Lime Zinger.
But seriously, for $1 that’s crazy economical and I am on some medication where it is paramount that I stay hydrated. My more normal snag is produce crates. The local asian market literally gives them away and they’re incredible tools for organization! They stack, you can take wire cutters to the plastic grill on side to make them into stackable cubbies, and they help organize the trunk of your car.
If I’m doing better in the spring I’d like to ise them to make raised beds for growing some veggies.
I found a neat set of old ink blocks from a famous manufacturer in China. It’s technically worth a fair sum of money, I paid 8$. Also an old vacuum tube for 3$, got it working. Neither of those are useful though, just neat.
In terms of materially useful things? Well, someone taught me how to use old, no-electronics camera lenses. So I bought a used DSLR for 135$ and bought antique lenses for very cheap (again 8$ for something that was originally nearly 1k after accounting for inflation). Now I can do my own product photography, documentation, etc. and it cost me very little, but looks great! Also my vacation photos have skyrocketed in quality.
Sisal soap bag. Collect the stubby soap ends and they stay nice and dry hanging up in the shower. Then use the bag as a scrubby loofah. Such a good idea.
