The christfascist church’s unmitigated rise since the USSR’s overthrow has undone so much social progress…

Meanwhile Cuba continues to use a very similar system to the USSR and currently has better LGBT rights than the US already, even with the economic instability caused by the US blockade.

“What would happen if capital succeeded in smashing the Republic of Soviets? There would set in an era of the blackest reaction in all the capitalist and colonial countries, the working class and the oppressed peoples would be seized by the throat, the positions of international communism would be lost.”

The GDR called western govs’ habit of pinkwashing their imperialism — only possible because non-imperial core countries are the victims of colonialism are thus less economically stable, which is generally correlated with LGBT rights — the “political misuse of homosexuals” and had started improving LGBT rights and protections in the 80s.

If the Soviet bloc wasn’t overthrown afterwards, I’m sure the rest of the Soviet states would’ve followed suit. Probably part of why Cuba did so too.

The DDR truly was something special. Didn’t they even start before the 1980s with LGBT rights and medical care?

      It’s not a blockade, it’s an embargo.

Everyone else can trade with Cuba if they want, we aren’t stopping them.

That said, the Cuba blockade is complete bullshit

Eh not quite. It disallows any business following US law or ships trading with the US from doing so with Cuba.

Naturally, there aren’t many ships that are gonna trade with Cuba, but not with the 2nd largest economy on the planet right beside it.

Currently Cuba is most lacking in building infrastructure like cement, and medical supplies iirc (even though its medical system and education are world-class), both of which they need to import but can’t.
