One of the needs I think this team could use is a backup center that’s known for protecting the paint or a big that can give you high energy off the bench like a Javale McGee or an Andre Drummond. Dwight Powell is another name that comes to mind that I like and could fit really well with this team.
a super star
Last yr we needed a PG, this yr we need a backup center or a shooter. Nikola Jovic could be that project. Not sure if Whitmore is too much for him if we throw in Landale.
That said I really like Whitmore and his ability to play the 2 through 4. Needs to step up defensively though.
Select Donovan Clingan in the upcoming draft. Trade up with future draft capital if necessary. He’s the rim protector and rebounder we need backing up Sengun.
Calmer online fan base, rowdier onsite fan base, lower bowl tickets for diehard fans only!!!
- a 7-foot tall dynamic rim protector
- quality 3&D guys, better shooters
- time
I heard that the Atlanta Hawks are looking to trade Clint Capela (29 years old). Not because he’s been playing badly, but because they have their eyes set on another center that they believe to be a better fit [ https://www.si.com/nba/hawks/news/nba-trades-analyst-proposes-trade-for-hawks-center-clint-capela ].
I’d love to bring our boy back. He’s less likely to hit a three than Jock, but he’s a good rim protector, and he’s not going to miss put-back dunks 🙄
Ausar Thompson
In terms of our roster I still think we need bench improvements. Main two improvements we could make are a rim protecting Center to back-up Sengun, as well as a scorer/shooter to back-up Jalen. Maybe Jock improves after he recovers more from his ankle injury/concussion, but he hasn’t looked good so far.
For the back-up Center, I think we might be able to trade for someone like Daniel Gafford, Isaiah Jackson, or Christian Koloko for relatively cheap. I’d also unironically look at Bruno Fernando. While it was ridiculous that he started in front of Sengun to start last year, he did show good potential as a back-up rim running/protecting big last year. He also has pretty decent passing for a big man, so he could run some of the dribble hand-off actions.
As for a back-up SG, the main guy I’d look at is Alec Burks. Great shooter and can create offense for that bench unit.
