I don’t want to spark another XIM debate. I think most of us have a pretty similar opinion, even if different reasoning for it.
Anywho, I saw this comment saying Xbox has a dedicated API to detect XIM specifically, and just refuse to implement it, but couldn’t find much about it. I’ll try to keep looking, but I was wondering if anyone else has heard about this.
This is pulled out from an article on Windows Central. Their claim seems a little bit strong. I don’t see how Microsoft would benefit from people XIMming. Game developers and publishers? Sure. Console makers tho? Idk man, they stand more to lose. Anyways, here’s the link https://www.windowscentral.com/gaming/xbox/as-microsoft-blocks-xbox-fighting-game-and-disability-accessories-xim-cheaters-will-escape-the-ban
How about you swap to the actuall device this game is designed for and buy a PC?
“As-of-yet unknown reason” aka they dont wanna lose even more players by losing the higher ranking players lol
Sorry but how do Game developers or publishers benefit from it?
From a Forbes article regarding Cronus Zen (and also XIM):
There are some complications with this, however, as many players say that these devices can be used to combat accessibility issues for players that need them and have no desire to “cheat.” That may be a factor in Microsoft’s decision, as they have been extremely involved in accessibility access for Xbox, including creating the Xbox Adaptive Controller.
Native mouse and keyboard are already supported on both Xbox and PlayStation. There is no accessibility argument here. For games like OW that only allow controller on console, XIMs are only there as a workaround to fool the game and gain an unfair advantage. Need a mouse to play Overwatch? get a PC.
