I think we can all agree that 16:9 is terrible on laptops for productivity work. But actually I’ve thought a bit more about it and discovered that wait, it is certainly true on smaller displays but the bigger a display gets the more ‘bearable’ it becomes (after all most desktop monitors are 16:9 but tend to be much nicer, because they have much more screen estate)

I just did this comparison below on displaywars.com. A 15.6" with 16:9 still manages to have more vertical pixels than a 13.3" that is 3:2 ratio.

So does that mean it’s OK to consider a 16:9 laptop so long as you don’t get a 14" or smaller size?
