I think we’re going to get exposed by a lackluster Seattle team this week. I bet we give up 40+ points to Geno Smith. It’s going to get ugly.
We won.
It was so clear the lack of pressure we were getting. It’s a joke anyone here thought there would be no impact, Montez(had a great game for the Bears) and Chase are beasts. Just another Trent and Kirk like we let go. You just have to hope Allen and Payne can keep it up.
For all three money the Vikings paid Kirk, he gave them one more playoff win than we have had in the same time span. Sam Howell is performing better than Cousins.
We got a third round compensatory pick for Cousins which we traded to the Bills and drafted Bryce Love and Wes Martin with the picks we got in the trade.
We didn’t “let Trent go.” He wasn’t re-signing with us and everyone knew that. And yeah, he’s been great with the Niners, but for as good as he’s been be still has the same number of rings as we do in that time span.
We traded him for a 2020 5th (used on Keith Ismail) and a 2021 3rd (Benjamin St. Juste). BSJ isn’t at Trent’s level by any means, but he’s a solid starter for us.
We got a second and a third round pick for Sweat and Young. I’ll bet that the players we get with those picks will perform better than the ones we got for Cousins and Trent, and have an overall bigger impact for the team than Sweat and Young.
I know it’s not an either/or situation, but I’ll take a low pressure rate with a better defensive performance and win than a high pressure rate with a loss.
I’d prefer Young’s and Sweat’s pressuring ability, but the defense does seem to perform more cohesively without them (granted, a one game sample size against a lackluster offense isn’t exactly the best measuring stick).
