So I just picked up the Logitech Z623 2.1 system as an easy plug and play set of speakers for my bedroom TV setup, and they sound GREAT (was literally just listening to the TV speakers before lol).
Here’s why my question sorta comes in. In our game room, we have an older 5.1 setup (Infinity TSS-750) and a receiver (Yahama TSR-5790) that hasn’t been hooked up in years but I believe all of it still works.
I know very little about the audio world, so would that receiver and a 3.1 setup (until I move out and set it back up as a full 5.1 in a living room) sound noticeably better? Again it may be a stupid question, because I assume a dedicated receiver and bookshelf system would obviously be better on paper, but I don’t know how well audio equipment ages in terms of compatibility with newer audio mixes for movies, as well as I know nothing about that set of 5.1 speakers and how well they compare to anything really. Will be used literally just for 4k blu ray watching, no gaming.
