I just watched BlitzSpank’s new video about 15 things most people don’t know about Dota2. One of the entries said that if you don’t favor the draft or teamed up with a toxic player or a griefer, one will no longer lose MMR if he/she abandons before the 5 minute mark and before the first blood. The only downside that was mentioned is you’ll be punished with time cooldown and has to wait before finding another match. My question is, to those who have done it, does that affect your behavior score and could it send you to play penalty games?

Interesting find. I think it kind of makes sense that it doesn’t update anyone’s MMR (even the leaver) since it’s not a reflection of their skill/winrate if the game hasn’t even started. Obviously, folks will think it’s a just punishment but behavior score/LP should be deterrent enough. Of course, the rabbit hole is League of Legend’s dodging mechanism.

Of course it works. We’ve all seen the “No stats will be recorded for this match” line when someone abandons, it applies to everyone in the game
