I don’t know how you guys felt, but last year it was a rough watch for me. Even when they were playing well.
What do you think breakdown is for the change? Maybe
50% Nurse
40% Maxey taking over as primary ball handler
10% Misc (Oubre and other role players)
Whatever it is, it’s pretty cool. Like, “Oh wow, Tobias is allowed to do more than stand in the corner! Paul Reed is getting real minutes! They’re actually pushing transition hard, instead of just talking about it! They’re getting into their half court offense with more than 8 second left on the shot clock!”
It’s been decades since I lived in Philadelphia. But if they trade for Caruso at the deadline I will get my first NBA jersey. I will wear it around Denver. Then I will make direct eye contact with Nuggets fans for an uncomfortably long amount of time.
Maxey has been freed up and Embiid arrived ready to make a statement.
I think we should give Joel credit for continuing to improve and not just comfortably plateauing. I’m sure part of that is from Nurse telling him something like “do you want to go down as a pretty good star, or an all time great?”
Starts with nurse for sure followed up by maxey
