Bayern v. Dortmund with Felix Zwayer as the referee. 1. He should never be allowed to referee, and 2. He made some really egregious calls that costed Dortmund the game. In the end, Bellingham is fined, and Bayern wins out for the title.

“rEal MaDrId sCorEd OfFsIDe GoAlS AgAiNsT bAyErN”.

    1. First of all, the refs were terrible for both sides. In the first leg, Real Madrid conceded a penalty for a handball, when the ball hit Carvajal’s chest/shoulder. He got a yellow as well. In the second game, Vidal was already on a yellow and performed like 10 fouls before getting his second one.
    2. The “offside goals” were scored in the extra time. Ever wondered how the game went to extra time? Because Bayern’s goal (the own goal) is product of AN OFFSIDE that was never called.
    3. There was no VAR and high-tech offside technology then. Many offside goals were being scored, people just remember these because Real Madrid used to won everything and it was an important game. When a team scores 150 goals per season, obviously one or two of them are gonna be controversial.
    4. Ronaldo barely gains any advantage by “being offside”. People usually complain when teams try to get an unfair advantage and don’t get punished for it, for example Barcelona defenders constantly fouling Chelsea players inside the box in the 2009 semis, without a penalty being given. But what advantage did Ronaldo gain? In both cases he was only some centimeters off, there was no way the ref and linesman would see that without VAR. You mean to tell me, in a situation when you have prime Ronaldo and Marcelo 2v1 against the goalkeeper, Real Madrid needed to cheat? Please.
    5. Continuing my previous point, Real Madrid didn’t need to cheat. They won the UCL the year before, they won it that year, they won it the next year. They were by far the best team in the world. Even without the “offside” goals, Real Madrid scored a 4th. Even all these didn’t count, they would probably find a way to score 1 or 2 more against a 10 man Bayern.

More than one call, the referee’s failure to protect Bukayo Saka against France in the WC QF last year. He ripped Theo Hernandez to shreds, who along with Dayot Upamecano continuously fouled him and got away with it. This included a clear and obvious penalty and several deliberate fouls around the box. One of these fouls led directly to the first French goal.

I’ve seen a lot of England exits in my time, for most of them, I will accept that we just weren’t good enough. This one really got to me.
