I currently have a Chevy Volt with a 14-50 plug in my garage on a 40A breaker. All I have right now is a very basic cable for charging. I’ve never really cared much about how fast my car charged as it’s got such a small range and I always had the gas to fall back on.

I am thinking of upgrading to an Ioniq 5. Since it will be all electric, I am now concerned about charging times.

So my question is, would my current set up be enough or should I install a Charge Point/Juicebox non wired charger and plug it into the 14-50? Would there be any difference in charging or would it be the same as my current cable?

I apologize if the answer is obvious. I am really not an expert in all things electrical.
