This is your typical sophomore ‘test if you have what it takes to be a superstar’ seasn if your rookie seasn is good and dude has put up 34/25/68 to start things off.

And thats fine. Keegan is already a good player, and Mike Brown with the rest of us want him to be great. But sometimes you can’t be who you’re not. If Keegan proves that him doing too much makes him inefficient, then we gotta take it as it is and shouldn’t expect too much and put pressure on him.

Heck, he entered the draft as a ‘developed’ player, 3rd yr out of Iowa, not as much potential as the other Top 5 picks and is what we expected him to be. Great shot, straight out of the woodwork. But is a lil timid, doesn’t have great handles nor lateral movement, keys to improve into a star.

Now hes being forced to develop into a star, and thats when you either IS a star and shows moments of brilliance (Anthony Edwards 2nd seasn for example) or turns into an efficient chucker if you’re not cause you’re doing too much.

Kinda reminds me of Trevor Ariza. Got a championship on the Lakers and gets hyped up by the world as the next star to watch out for. Signed to a max on Houston expecting to develop into one. And with the keys given to him, avg 15 PPG on 40/32/65 shooting and basically shown that he doesn’t have what it takes. Thats fine tho, because it became one of the most valuable role players in the league, shooting corner 3s and playing defense. Returned bck to Houston and was part of the great Harden teams almost taking down KD warriors.

In conclusion, whatever Keegan turns out to be, we’ll take it. Just dont shoot us out the game, lol. /s

TLDR; Keegan is not EXCEEDING expectations and thats okay.

Imagine hearing 3 months ahead of time that you’re about to have a “Kawhi like jump” and that’s said on repeat by our small market media… Hated when Luke Loucks said that as if he was trying to get kudo points for predicting it and make waves as an assistant. Got in Keegan’s head and got him pressing a bit trying to prove the summer jump hype.

They are hard on Keegan, but I also do think Keegan might just be in the tier of a great role player, but not quite a star. Cant be having such horrendous splits after almost 10 games.

Last seasn, we term him a great shooter, but has very flawed handles/lateral movement, yet all of a sudden we expect him to be a star just cause he dunk hard first points of Summer League. Lol. Its weird.

The problem to that is because you guys here hyped him up so much to be this next superstar like dude if you want the doomer or doubters to calm down then do the same thing.

Nah, I’m mellow and never really got on the hype as much as everybody here. I’m big on looking at ‘superstar factors’ in players that can develop into star attributes, and Keegan’s slow lateral movements and passivity are 2 major red flags cause they are absolutely essential for a star. Being ‘shifty’ etc.

He needs to perfect that corner “I’m gonna shoot it” look that freezes the defense before he instantly disappears into the paint with the layup/dunk.

This sub is not hard on Keegs. Fans love and adore him. He’s still one of my favs, but I’m not delusional. He’s in his second year there’s definitely gonna be dips. On the bright side of his game right now, he is rebounding and working hard on the defensive end. His shot will come. I’m not going to crown him like some already have as the third best player, he’s still growing.
