I mean, with Sean Payton leaving that team all the scumbags from 09 are gone no? It’s a completely new squad and coaching staff from turnover.
Of course there is still a decent rivalry with how the recent years have played out and I still don’t like them necessarily, but they’ve dropped down my list underneath the NFC North rivals and eagles
Naw, my wife’s from New Orleans (technically Houma) I got no ill will towards the Saints.
I’ll get slammed for this but 98’ was way more painful than 09 imo
Yes you are
They still have their GM, Mickey Loomis, who was part of Bountygate. Until Loomis is gone I still say FTS.
I’ll admit that I always liked Drew Bree’s. What was it, 2010? I don’t ‘hate’ teams for beating us, I hate their fans for gloating
Yes, you are. What’s wrong with you? I’m a forgive and forget kind of guy, but what that organization did was nasty. Cam Jordan is still there too, son of Vikings legend… I would’ve expected better from him. Must’ve been an interesting convo around the dinner table at the Jordan household the following Thanksgiving.
Yes, yes you are!! FTS!
Fuck Gregg Williams!
can’t stand em
As long as Drew Brees and Co get to go on TV and wax poetic about saving the city of New Orleans with a Super Bowl, I will hate the Saints. FTS.
I’m indifferent to the current saints. Just don’t feel anything towards them
I don’t hate the current saints players, more Sean Payton and Gregg Williams and Loomis.
Payton does kind of have the Vikings number (mainly by cheating), so I kind of see the upcoming broncos game as a bit of a trap game. The broncos actually aren’t terrible talent wise and are on a bit of a run.
Through this lens, sustained Vikings fandom appears similarly bizarre… why remain a fan of the Vikings, when it’s an entirely new squad and coaching staff from ‘09?
Sports fandom and attitudes are woven into our individual and collective identities and worldviews. Vikings fandom culture has its own distinct set of attitudes that one either tacitly accepts or actively chooses not to. Despite the cultural inertia on display in this sub, free thinkers like you can support the Vikings without investing emotional energy on hating rivals, on hand-wringing about every coaching decision, and on endless bitching in general.
I can say that when we beat them it still feels a little better than a normal game.
Personally, I like to hate the saints so I will continue to hate the saints
I made peace around 2017. Started to give Drew Brees and Sean Payton their props for the consistency and potency of the New Orleans Offense. And I started to blame the fumbles most of all.
