I want to talk about the run game. I don’t have access to all-22 so would really love input from anyone that does have access to it but from what I’m observing, a big problem w our run game is how basic the concepts are.

We aren’t multiple in our run plays. Seems like we run a ton of inside zone and off tackle zone w a pull sometimes. I do like that it’s a north south run game but more horizontal runs, power pull runs and wham concepts would be great.

When we go under center we run the ball 100% of the time and we run on obvious run downs. Under Doug we had such a multiple run game. Under center, shotgun, misdirection, horizontal zone runs, gap runs etc.

What are y’all feeling and people with all-22 is swift not seeing blocks well right now? (He has a pretty poor pff grade which would factor in how good his blocks are)

I’ve watched the film and still can’t quite figure out why it’s not working. To me, it looks like yes teams are stacking the box. Keeping a spy on Hurts keeps that man in the box.

We run well out of pony, it seems, but our runs up the middle have been underwhelming and it’s not just due to Jurgens being out.

Execution has been poor. Steen messed up a few times that fucked plays up before they even got started by being late off the snap. Our run scheme requires precision and even one person out of step can throw the whole play out of whack.

I don’t buy that Hurts not being as much of a threat to run is that detrimental. Tyler Bagent isn’t a threat to run and our O-line is better than the Bears, but D’Onta Foreman was still picking up good yardage at ease. Other teams find ways to run effectively with worse personnel.

So I think it’s a confluence of factors, but yes it’s strange that Swift carved up both the Vikings and Bucs and then has been pretty much stifled ever since. You’d think with the success we’ve had throwing the ball and the weapons we have their, teams wouldn’t be so keyed in on our run.

(also of note, one of Swift’s explosive plays was credited as a pass but it was a run concept.)

I also liked what I saw from Penny in his 2 snaps. He just took the ball and plowed forward. I’d really like to see him actually get some snaps to get in rhythm.
