Man…I haven’t felt this way in a long time, but honestly I don’t even know who we would trade right now with how we are doing so far. Melton is the obvious weak link as a starter, but he’s also probably the only reasonably valued player I’d trade right now. Sure, Springer, Furk, Cov, are all eligible, but I don’t see any of those guys tacked onto Melton really getting us a significant upgrade to Melton in return.

You have Oubre out here proving the whole world wrong about him for pennies on the dollar. Jo and Maxey obviously untouchable. Tobias in the Nurse system is looking like someone I’d want back next year for reasonable money. Pat Bev looks surprisingly great and we need his attitude. Batum is a nice fit.

Really the only thing I could see working is Melton, Covington, Springer and Pick(s) to not create holes in other spots, which means Morris moves to the backup 3 and Furk goes to the backup 2. But how much better of a starting 2 do we really get over Melton with a package like that?

Hilariously, we went from too many centers, to too few centers, so you really can’t even get rid of Bamba now unless you’re getting something equally as shitty back for him in the package, since we are in trouble if Paul Reed or Jo (God forbid) gets hurt.

Springer and Paul Reed are the obvious trade candidates.

Paul Reed because he makes like $8mil a year and has cap implications next year.

Springer because he is young, not really useful for us, and might be a valuable asset to a team who can give him minutes to develop him, and has cap implications next year.

Everyone else is either expiring or Tyrese Maxey or Embiid. If we do a trade we likely would need to offset it by getting rid of Reed and/or springer… unless whoever we trade for is also expiring.
