Currently own an iPhone XS and want to make the jump to android, I’ve settled on a Samsung but I’m unsure which to get (I’ll be buying refurbished, if that matters)
Eyeing up the 23, 23 plus and ultra, really don’t know if the plus and ultra are worth the extra money over the base model?
Any input and advice is welcomed as I know next to nothing about Samsungs it android, been an iPhone user for as long as they’ve been a thing but it’s time to leave them behind for a better phone!
Get the ultra if you can afford it
Base s series is the best for those just getting into samsung or android for that matter
I got the s22. The s23 isn’t THAT much of an upgrade for 30-40% the extra price. Since you’re getting a refurbish, I reckon you might be budget concerned, so this is something worth considering.
If you buy from Samsung and have any problem at all do not call their tech support. Just return the device for refund and buy something else. Samsung tech support will try to run out your 14 day return window then after that all they will offer is for you to mail the phone back for repair while you are expected to live without a phone for 2 to 4 weeks while they evaluate their defective hardware.
Go for the ultra or the + for a decent battery
Just got the ultra a few weeks back because I wanted to try the pen thing out for the first time. Switched to it from a Razr 5G, so the size has been an adjustment, but I actually love this phone. I use the pen a ton to take notes for work and it actually feels very natural to write with once you get used to how thin it is to hold while writing - I liken it to a very smooth pen writing on stone paper; just enough resistance to feel feedback while writing, but so smooth it’s satisfying to write with. I can confidently say that, for the first time in my life, I can sign my name with an e-pen and have it actually look like my signature. I turned off the pen sound, but my wife kept hers on because she found it very satisfying; I just can’t have it making noise during meetings at work when I’m using the phone as a notepad.
The camera is incredible, the sound is great, it doesn’t feel laggy switching between apps, and having grammarly built into the keyboard spell checker has been much more effective than I thought it would be. It’s still kinda big in the hand and I’m not sure I’ll ever fully get used to that, but it’s overall my favorite smartphone I’ve owned since I had the iPhone 3G waaaay back.
I know we all get screen protectors these days, so do yourself a favor and turn the screen sensitivity all the way up if you want to use the fingerprint reader with a screen protector. I was still used to the dedicated reader on the back of phones when I switched to this, so I will say there’s a learning curve to the reader on this and it’s a bit frustrating until you get it down. I had to get used to pressing my thumb adequately hard on the right spot on the screen, rather than slapping my index finger onto a dedicated reader on the back.
I’m also super impressed with the battery. First smartphone I’ve ever had that has lasted me 2.5 days between charges. To be fair, I don’t use it much at work besides sending slacks and taking notes, but I do also run wifi and cellular simultaneously since my office has thick ass walls that make service spotty in some areas.
Get the base s23 256gb 👍
