Meanwhile, GM will also export Tahoe/Yukon to China, they will start to sell their full-size SUVs in there as well.

It seems like it wouldn’t cost much for Pacifica shipping, so that’s reason why OZ also able to get Tahoe/Yukon.

A RHD Yukon should be very pricey same like RHD Camaro and Silverado.

I feel like this is just another schizophrenic step in GM’s product strategy for Australia.

Holden were killed off, and they announced they’re pulling out of RHD markets… Except actually, we’ve already developed the Corvette in RHD, so that’s still coming over.

Then they realised some people in the country would buy their fullsize trucks, so they started importing them, but had to convert them to RHD locally at GMSV (formerly HSV).

Now they’re doing it officially (in house on the line, I assume), signalling a return to RHD markets - but with nameplates no-one here has heard of, or has any Affiliation with.

But so are Ram. And Ford. And Chevy.

There’s enough of a market to sustain a small volume of these large trucks, but I question whether they’re all going to survive - and GM’s approach seems to be that the moment something doesn’t work out, they pull the plug and do a complete reversal.

I could be wrong, maybe we’ll turn into a nation where roads are clogged with these things instead of just having a niche market in the country, but I feel like this will be something they try and launch before cancelling again after a few years.

You hit the nail on the head, there’s no consistency of tenacity with GM.

The moment they feel they didn’t achieve overnight success they pull the plug even if things are improving.

The Cadillac allante, Pontiac fiero, gm ev1, etc. all we’re rebounding and turning around when gm killed them. GM don’t understand a successful product need to be honed and tuned over generations, reputations and customer base takes decades to build.
