I am in a very unhealthy and abusive relationship with the CoD series. I used to play and love COD4 and MW2 as a high school student, and have played on and off throughout the years. Now that we are on the precipice of the newest release, I am thinking about getting it. They are doing a lot I like, but also a lot I hate. I just feel like I don’t really have any choices, nothing does what CoD does and I can barely even quantify what CoD does that I like so much. I like the arcade style gameplay, military theme, realistic and customizable weapons, and the class system. I hate the skill based matchmaking, the microtransations, the stupid amount of super hero, serial killer, and IRL rapper skins and camos.
What can I play that is a healthy alternative to CoD, or am I simply stuck in this one-sided relationship?
Titanfall 2, bf 2042 is in an ok place now and most important: THE FINALS just had its open beta and is about to Release this year. Most refreshing fps i played since Titanfall 2.
