The volume of users, the custom UX, the functions, where do you even start?
If someone had the next great social media platform and even had backers giving them funding, I don’t even know where I could point them to start…
Building it isn’t really the issue, in some cases the code can even be found open source.
The issue is adoption and usage retention and network effect… once you get mass adoption,
THEN
The other issues about custom UX or security or database / server fluctuations become an issue.
I just read Hatching Twitter and would recommend it for giving good insight into its I’ll-defined origins. It’s a fascinating story, especially as they had no business model at all even whilst onboarding hundreds of thousands of new users each month. It’s a good lesson in how to pivot for a new business.
Thank you for the recommendation!
