Hypothetically, where would Portland have to finish and what would the defense and offensive rankings be for Billups to land coach of the year.

(Obviously no chance this happens with such a young roster, but just for fun)

    The Blazers would need to make the playoffs. If they do that, he’s got a serious case, considering how low their expectations are right now. They’d probably need to have a top-10 defense, as that side of the ball seems to be Chauncey’s strong suit.

    I think to be in serious contention for coach of the year the Blazers would need to be in the make the playoffs outright. No play-in and likely a 4-5 seed to get a real look.
