I was holding off buying a SD until Black Friday and was just going to grab the 64gb and a 1tb SSD to upgrade.
With the announcement of the OLED, I’m now considering dropping a bit more cash.
If you had a budget with a bit of flex in it, would you look to spend the extra £100 (or equivalent) on the OLED version over the 512gb LCD?
Alternatively, would you recommend sticking with the original plan?
I’m most likely to use it to game in bed or on the sofa, possibly dock it occasionally. Wouldn’t be many AAA games or FPS, but would be some. Mostly simulation/city builders.
It’s not just the screen. It’s got a bigger battery, the APU is on a smaller process (more efficient), and LPDDR5 transfer speed has been upped from 5500MT/s to 6400MT/s. That ends up meaning you get more game time on battery (Valve claims up to 50% extra) and performance is ever so slightly better. It’s not going to be ground shaking, but it can push something that’s barely playable into playable territory.
The price difference is more than worth it. The only reason to get an LCD model at this point is if you just absolutely can’t afford at least the lower tier OLED.
That makes sense and is pretty much what I thought. It’s one of those where my budget could stretch to the 512gb OLED, but it would be right at the top/maybe a bit over.
I’m getting the 512 OLED. Not a fan of the smaller apu and orange power button though
Not a fan of the smaller APU? What? Why?
Im also confused on this change. It seems the lower number would be a downgrade but from what Im reading, its actually an upgrade? Sorry, I dont understand tech terms.
I’m in the UK also and trying to decide what to do, also don’t have a deck yet. Also trying to decide between the 512gb oled or the 1tb lol £90 difference in the UK. But the 1tb has that etched glass which I don’t know how it looks and have also watched the videos and there is no comparison between the 512gb oled and the 1tb oled, just the LCD and oled, but Taki udon recently did a video on the screen of the oled which really helped, so recommend his videos.
