I don’t know if this is an unpopular opinion, but I feel like this doesn’t get talked about enough. In games that feature it, friendly fire allows you to harm and kill your teammates for a penalty, the severity of which depends on how far you take it.

For most people, 99% of the time friendly fire will happen by mistake, since there is never a good reason to kill your teammates, only a punishment. This is why I believe that most video games will benefit greatly from removing it, the only ones that have any real reason to keep it are the more serious realistic shooters, but I cannot think of a single reason to keep it in the others.

Maybe I’m an idiot who doesn’t get the obvious reason why, I don’t know. But this conversation doesn’t come up enough for me to see either side’s perspective on this
