Hey fans, I’ve been trying to go to more jazz games this year and have noticed the common problems, overcharging on ksl or redic seatgeek fees on both selling and buying.

I’ve been a part of some season ticket holders groups for other teams (padres facebook group, blazers dm group, etc…) and have had good experiences dealing with and getting / selling tickets to games.

Basically the tldr; a private group for us / other jazz communities to post / request tickets and have verified sellers so we can arrange private sales w/ more confidence / ease. I haven’t crossed one of these for the Jazz yet.

I can go into more detail but im just trying to gauge interest around the community.

    Not an huge response!

I wouldnt mind making this community connecting site. What we need are other season ticket holders (who aren’t looking to profit from every game) <=== this is a tough one it seems

Basically the way these groups work is forming a community around a sport and getting members who are actively looking to attend games / help others find tickets.

From my experience in this market I cross a number of sellers.

    • people who just post their tickets to SG through the app and don’t just want to sell games they cannot attend usually at a markup
    • people who post on KSL at a mark up that exceeds or matches SG
    • people who dump tickets before a game on ksl/SG to just sell

Season tickets for NBA are expensive and i understand wanting to get “facevalue” (avg ticket cost) for every game (or better on premium games) but really people im looking for are those who buy seasons who attend the games.

While i have no problem with current situation, i do dislike that SG and other platforms charge high fees for selling a ticket (10%+ to sell AND variable buyer fees). On the other side, dealing off platforms via ksl or facebook involves a level of trust and generally the prices reflect SG (or more). This is better as a ticket transfer shouldnt have fees of 25%+ on a sale but i don’t think SG should be reflected as what the “sale price” is.

For example: post a lower bowl premium row on SG with the return being $250 (your cost). SG can post tickets for $400+ taking all the extra money from the seller list and buyer fees.

I think a middle ground is much better and actually providing this service to fans helps strengthen sport.

As a season ticketholder it leaves me in an interesting position. Selling on SG is easy and dealing with the fees is part of that. I’d be ok selling my tickets off SG and dealing with actual interested buyers that can end up getting a better value the SG directly.

The problem with current KSL/FB is it’s a constant ping-pong dms and low ball that just wastes time for everyone. Sure sales can be made, but answering questions that are obvious over and over isn’t exactly worth it. Just posting what you want and not negotiating doesn’t seem hard but here are.

Building a community is great, i’ve been part of some like groups for MLB and it was great experiences. When you start to trust / know other users it becomes easy to find tickets when out of town guests come in / split season ticket packages / get better seats / spend a little less for tickets all year.

Anyways, the work to build a site to facilitate this (or even a FB group) is easy. The work to build a community is the hard part. I don’t know any other regular season ticket holders like myself who aren’t worried about a huge profit or “making back” all their money all year, and i was hoping the response here was a bit more encouraging.

I appreciate those of you who are interested, if you want to DM me and discuss more feel free!
