Vikings could win the super bowl and Kevin O”Connell would somehow still not be coty.
We finish the season with 10 wins he’ll be in the conversation
He should have won last year. If we win the division with Dobbs he will win it this year though
If KOC gets us to the playoffs and even possibly another division title, I am confident he can win Coach of the Year honestly. Dude is the glue to this teams improbable success
Koc has coached about 3 great games this year
He jumped up in the odds from like +6000-10000 to +1500 after the win against the Falcons.
I think it’ll probably take more highly visible, improbable, positive stuff without any negative stuff to put him in the conversation. Last year he was a vegas favorite until we kept getting blown out in the games we lost.
I know, vegas isn’t the one deciding on who coach of the year is. But I’d bet it’s not completely random, and it’s probably the best thing to track in season.
We’re 1 game over 0.500…
FYI, Daboll won COTY with a 9-7 record last season. If we can go about that, I see no reason why not KOC considering the reason Daboll won was because the narrative was the cards were stacked against him.
Have you seen the track record of Coach of the Year winners? …Not sure I want that hex on KOC
For the record i miss typed I think he should be a candidate not that he should win it. Just the fact that he hasnt been nominated let alone spoken about with what he has done the past couple of weeks from 0-3 to 5-4
Heck, 3 weeks ago some people here were saying that he needed to be fired.
Deep down does it matter? I don’t care who the coach of the year is I care who wins the super bowl. If you win a super bowl you are a damn good coach.
I’m happy for it.
Being disregarded or the underdog works in our favor. It gets most fired-up.
The recognition/distractions for awards, for contracts, it creates expectations = not staying in the moment. Something Kevin talks about (and Eckhart Tolle).
Sit back and enjoy the game.
From a high level, prior to last week McConnel was coaching a 4-4 team coming off a 13-4 campaign. Outside our fan world I can’t possibly conceive why McConnel would be anywhere in the conversation for coach of the year.
Last week was absolutely an impressive job by the coaching staff preparing Dobbs, and we’ll see going ahead. If the team rips off some wins despite Cousins out then yeah I think he gets in that conversation.
But again, at a national level just looking across the Vikings thus far are not having as successful of a season last year in terms of their record.
