Hello. I am looking for help from this community as I do not have the knowledge to do what I want to do with my windows OS computer.

My objective - I would like to find out a way to find newly created/newly transferred files on my computer.

Reason - I caught my roommate last night on my security camera using my laptop without my permission. He walked into my room and opened up my laptop that was on my desk. He then somehow logged into my laptop. I don’t know how he figured out my login password, but I watched him log in and get to my home screen on the laptop. After he got onto the home screen, he put his thumb drive in and then accessed file explorer and dragged a few files into the laptop drive. Then he turned the laptop off and put my laptop back on my desk.

This is freaking me out. I haven’t turned the laptop back on yet. He’s the last one to have used the laptop. I was not able to see which folder/location he dragged the files into. If I turn my laptop back on is there a way to figure out exactly where he put these files? Is there a software or tool/feature of some sort built into windows OS that can help find these files on my laptop?

I’m thinking about contacting the authorities in my city but haven’t made that decision yet.

Any input on how to find these files would mean a lot to me guys. I am decent with computers and windows but as of now I don’t know how to find these files he put into my laptop.

Looking forward to your responses

Mike
