Hey y’all,

So, I haven’t really cared about basketball since the mid-90’s, when every kid in America knew who Michael Jordan was. I grew up in South Carolina and had Hornets merch, and considered them “my team”, though I never really followed them closely.

With baseball season coming to a close and my team eliminated from contention, I’m looking for a new sport to watch, and I don’t give a shit about football.

I live in Houston now, but my opinion on the Rockets is neutral, so I’m going back to the old days, digging my Hornets hat out of the closet, and rooting for them. The thing is, I’ve never watched a complete NBA basketball game and haven’t kept up with any happenings in the sport for over 20 years now.

So, here are my dumb questions:

What team history of the Hornets do I need to know? What lore, rivalries, controversies and stories are essential to being a Hornets fan?

More broadly, what resource would you recommend for learning the ins and outs of professional basketball rules/jargon/etc.?

Thanks in advance.

We are complete ass generally but have a shot to be interesting this year if everything goes right. And honestly if you just watch our season you will pick up on a ton. Basketball is ultimately very simple to watch, but with endless depth.

We have no controversies so please do not look any of them up.

    Existence is pain. Ooooh weeeee.

The good news: we have a LOT of young talent on our team this year. If we can develop well, we have a VERY bright future…but this is Charlotte…so you never really know.
