With the release of the Robocop game, I started thinking about movie-based games that were quite good, and almost all that come to mind were from the PS2 era, such as:
- “Matrix: Path of Neo,” an incredible action game for its time, with superb animations and a lot of fun. When I imagine a John Wick game, I envision something like this but modern.
- “Batman Begins,” based on Nolan’s film, a great game with action, stealth, and moments that evoke a bit of terror.
- “The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King,” another excellent action and adventure game.
- “Shadow of Rome,” pure action, enjoyable mechanics, a different way to experience the film.
- “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End.”
- “Peter Jackson’s King Kong,” a fantastic game with moments of terror and pure action, killing monsters with Kong. A work of art.
- “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe,” another action-packed game and a unique way to experience the film.
- “Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith,” simply art.
- “The Incredibles,” also very fun and a different way to experience the film.
- “Madagascar,” super fun, especially fondly remembering the mini-games it had.
- “Shrek 2,” incredibly enjoyable to play with friends.
- “Fantastic 4,” the one based on the movie, I recall it being a very decent game despite the film not being as impressive.
And many more. It’s incredible how this console generation had so many strictly movie-based games (aside from the IP) that were of high quality for the time.
What do you think? Do you believe this generation had the best movie-based games, and which movie-based games do you remember or have played recently that you think were very good?
