So this bad boy is mounted on the outside of a house I just bought. I think one of the 3 “outputs” goes to the modem in the den, which is then connected to my wireless router.

Problem is the house is big and one router won’t cut it. I was planning to use one of those adapter sets to run the coax cables as Ethernet cables to a few old hookups around the house, then set wireless access points there.

But given that my modem is downstream of this outdoor junction/splitter on one of the outputs, I guess that won’t work? Will I have to try route these home runs into the house somewhere then set a modem before this splitter, then use the adapters on each line to get internet to each location?

Any thoughts/ ideas appreciated . I haven’t seen an exterior mounted splitter/junction like this before .

You’ll only use 1 modem so using the existing setup with your modem down stream wouldn’t work. To use the existing COAX, you’d have to make a second run to your modem and a second splitter in that junction box. You’d basically be creating an isolated COAX network. (I’ve never used the Ethernet to coax adapters so I’m not sure if multiple ones can be used with a splitter)

Since you’d have to run a cable anyways, you’re better off running cat 6 to an access point or 2. With one story houses, it’s quite simple. If it’s a 2 story, you’ll end up needing to cut and patch some drywall.
