Greetings,

I have a Windows 11 Dell G15, RTX3060 laptop I only use for gaming. I’ve noticed after a fresh restart, all my games play perfectly, smooth. When I’m done gaming, I like to set the laptop to Hibernate. I have the power button configured to Hibernate. Then when I startup the laptop to play again (from Hibernation), I notice there is a slight stutter in my games. It’s barely noticeable, in fact Steam FPS counter doesn’t even notice it, games still run at 50-60fps (which is perfectly fine by me). By the way, the laptop meets the system requirements for all said games. Anyways, to get rid of the stutter, I simply restart and it goes away, perfect gameplay. I’ve tried this with multiple games; fresh restart all games run smoothly. After hibernate, the same stutter returns. The rate and type of stutter is identical across all games.

I’m wondering if anybody can perhaps throw a “guess” as to why this would be happening. Should I just shut down the PC after each use (without fast startup - real shut down)? Or is there anything else I should look at before doing that? Is it bad practice to hibernate the laptop daily?

The reason I don’t like to shut down my laptop is because of a rumor I heard a long time ago… I can’t verify if it’s true and it probably isn’t, but it’s something along the lines of avoiding to shut down (hibernate instead) your PC to extend it’s longevity or decrease wear and tear. Any truth to that rumor?

Any info welcome. Many thanks.

Edit - worth mentioning, a few months ago, I upgraded my RAM from 16GB to 32GB. I used l a top rated Amazon vendor… About $80 vs the Dell OEM Ram slots which were about $300+ (seemingly the same exact product - just more expensive on Dell site). Now, I’m not sure if this stutter was evident before I upgraded my RAM or not. The RAM slots are from “Crucial”, again with good reviews. Not sure if I should consider that as an option to evaluate. Anyways, thanks again!
