My auto tranmission shifts really exagerated for the handful of shifts when starting from cold in winter. If I start my car and idle it for 5 minutes it shifts good right from the start.

The transmission fluid is obviously warmer. Is this just by heat transfer from the block to the transmission case? Or is there heat transfer from the trans cooler from the rad?

Are the pipes from the trans cooler fins purposeful interwoven in the fins so there is intentional heat transfer from the two fluid systems?
