TL;DR (or for those without a subscription): The Packers provided Favre and Rodgers with plenty of veteran help in their early years at the OL, TE, and WR positions. Gute tried going young on offense so the players could develop together and it hasn’t worked — in fact, they have regressed through the first six games. The team also risks losing the locker room if everyone thinks the front office is only worried about winning two years from now and not today. For those reasons, Gute must add veterans before the trade deadline next week.
Some (not all) trade candidates Silverstein mentions are: DeAndre Hopkins, Hunter Renfrow, Jerry Jeudy, Derrick Henry, and Mike Evans.
If we can get someone for like a 6th round pick solely to placate the locker room, then whatever. It could avoid some kind of disaster like Rashaan Gary deciding he doesn’t want to sign a long term contract in Green Bay. It’s obviously a lost season and it would suck trading away picks, but there’s more at stake now with the actual good players getting pissed.
