I don’t get where the narrative comes from. DRX beats GenG so it’s a free finals for T1, WBG made it to finals so it’s a free finals for JDG/T1. If anything, this proves that the top side bracket was absolutely insane. As a T1 fan I was scared to get a team (DRX), who 3-1ed GenG last year and I would be wary to get a team who just beat the team that dumpsterd GenG. In fact GenG, who were one of the favorites to win this tournament, is only the third best team in this top side bracket below WBG and BLG.
