My dad is convinced that he can run his pilot 10 thousand miles on an oil change because the Castrol oil he runs says 10 thousand miles. I think that is bs. What is a realistic number of miles using full synthetic that it can be ran for? 6 thousand miles? 8? Also do you trust the oil life sensor and change it at like 15 percent oil life?

I don’t listen to oil life. Some people swear by it. For me the oil life meter just goes down too slow. I would say change it every 4-5k miles. It’s more frequent than most. A lot of ppl will complain about wasting good oil. Idc if the oil has life left. The cleaner the oil in the engine the longer it’ll last. I’ll eat the extra oil cost to make my car last longer. Don’t forget to change transmission fluid every 30-50k miles too. Drain and fill, don’t flush.

Check the owners manual. Follow advice there. Not on the bottle of oil.
