My wife’s most hated piece if clothing I own.

I bought this jacket in the mid 90s from a JCPENNEY in Michigan with money from my 1st paycheck from my first job.

It’s covered in paint. The pockets are ripped and I broke the zipper a decade ago. Yet I pull this bad boy out every winter and wear it every day. My wife has tried to throw it out on multiple occasions. Even once bought me a pretty new coat to replace it. Yet here it is being pulled out of the clothes closet for another year tonight.

When the wife gets home and sees that I have pulled it out she’s going to give me so much shit. I know it.

I feel like this group is the only group that understands. Is she right? Does it need to be retired. Or may I present to the jury a man proud of his team that has the right to keep wearing the paint stained, ripped, ratty coat cause it makes him feel good inside.

I leave it in your hands.

Maybe describe to us why you don’t want to replace it with a new one. We get it, we all have things we hold on to but sometimes don’t need to.

And let’s face it, it’s not like you’re bringing out some mid-season magic for a playoff push each year.

Who knows, maybe there’s a coat out there that you will really like. I bet winter-wear tech has come a long way since the 90s and you may find something more comfortable and warm.

Perhaps this coat could be reserved as your yard-work or game-day coat.

Disclaimer - I am not your wife’s burner account. Just playing devils advocate and offering a different perspective.
