I have spent most of my life being the brunt of jokes because I bleed purple no matter what. I have seen my fair share of heartbreak. My question is: are we commendable because we stick it out with out team? Character is built by failure. If that is the case, we must be the best fan base ever. Skol.
Character is built by failure.
But by the “failure” of one’s self, not others. A fan who prides himself on loyalty has not failed if his allegiance never wavers.
are we commendable because we stick it out with our team?
That would depend on the particular beholder’s lens of virtue. If brand loyalty is something one deems virtuous, then the answer is yes.
Yet there are many lenses through which one might glimpse our fandom. It may be fairly considered a form of unconditional love, for example, but it could also be perceived as a form of addiction, or the outcome of a successful act of commercial manipulation.
Everybody makes fun of everybody else’s team. Sure the Vikings have had more than their share of disappointments are heartbreak but no matter what team you wrote for you been made fun of
But when you end up talking about how many super bowls your team is one it does get uncomfortable🤣
