I am curious to see what this sub thinks about this matchup. Usually, espn and other media sites put their names in the same tier in 7-10 range.

Who do you think is better between the two players? What about greater?

Bird have 3 Straight MVPs. Kobe only have 1 MVP.

Bird have 3 rings with 2 FMVP. Kobe have 5 rings with 2 FMVP.

But as for skills.

Kobe is the better scorer and defender. He also have the better work ethic. Bird is the better Shooter, Rebounder, and way better Passer.

But overall, who do you think is better and/or greater?

    Career wise it’s Kobe. Kobe maintained an MVP level prime for about as long as Bird was in the league period.

    And for skills, bird wasn’t a bad defender. He’s also a significantly better passer and a tenacious rebounder. For a volume scorer his efficiency is pretty elite where Kobe’s wasn’t.
