For me it was Darksouls or souls games in general. I was the kind of gamer who values the narrative and the movie style games more than fun/gameplay first type of games.
After playing darksouls in 2020. I can’t stand these games anymore. I tried to replay horizon zero dawn (which was a 9/10 game for me) in preparation for forbidden west, and i just couldn’t set through the agonizingly long cutscenes and dialogs. And also don’t get me started on the hand holding.
I had a similar experience actually. I played ds1 first and got destroyed and hated it. I quit when i reached ONS. After i got a ps5 i played bloodborne and fell in love with souls games ever since. Something in bloodborne made them click for me.
