Hello boys and girls,

As probably most of you on Z690 and alderlake, I have an upgrade itch.

Currently running Z690 EDGE, DDR4 3600 CL14 and RTX 4090 with 12600k cooled with noctua u12a.

I kind of invested into “better” motherboard so I could have future upgrade path.

Now I’m wondering, is it worth it to swap to higher tier 13900k/14700k/14900k for 4k gaming.

Has any of you made similar upgrade?

Thanks to everyone’s contribution.

14700K. I just made the same upgrade and am good for at least another 3 years. I had my 12600K for 2 years already. So that’s 5 years on the same socket. Plus I was able to get some money back by selling on my 12600K. Very pleased with the performance of the 14700K but it does tend to run hot even with a NH-D15.

I also have 12600kf , evga z690, ddr5 and 4090, today bought 13700k, wanted to try amd, but don’t want to change motherboard and waterblock. What I don’t like from 12600 - low memory overclock, only 6800, and cpu overclock is only 5300. Expected to get from 13700 7600 for memory and 5700 for cpu.

Nice. Care to report on the difference? Are you running 4k as well?

No, I play 1440p that’s reason why I can see difference between cpu. And also it’s my kind of hobby- overlocking, so interested what I can achieve with 13700
