Not in a tanking sense but more of a gm that laid a foundation of success “Drafting Ant and McDaniels,” like Hinkie drafted Embiid.
But definitely made some bad moves along the way and probably not the gm to actually build a contender.
He had good and bad moves, but at the end of the day he got a team that was traumatized by Butler and had a lot of bad salaries, and in 2 years made them a playoff team that fought hard against 2nd seed. Culver pick was bad, Dlo trade was not in his favor, but he brought Ant, Jaden, Naz, and hired Finch - foundational pieces of the current team.
Edit: he also a was a great in evaluating talent, it’s known he wanted Garland, he wanted Lauri but did not want to give up extra pick to Chicago alongside Rubio. He was trying to build 22-23 Kings here.
Trust the pRosas.
For real though, by all accounts from what I understand he was kind of an asshole and fostered an environment that a lot of the people around the team did not enjoy. He also made some dumb moves for sure. BUT, he also made the trade that got us 2 firsts for RoCo, which ended up in turn letting us draft Jaden iirc. Also, he still drafted Ant and Jaden IN THE SAME DRAFT, which deserves mad credit. He wasn’t perfect but his hits were all home runs.
