I don’t have access to reviewing game tape and checking all of these next gen stats. But to my eyes and the basic stats I can find he seems to be slightly above average and not worth a huge contract (or let alone keeping over 2 first rounders). He’s tied for 26th in sacks and not even on the first page of PFF DE ratings.
What am I missing or is this another example of Fit/Tepper incompetence?
Burns only does 1 thing well, so he’s not an elite player. We do need pass rushers tho (2 at least)
He’s a 2nd tier pass rusher, which is nothing to scoff at. He’s not elite.
Haason Reddick, CMC, Bradberry, dj moore… everybody looks better once they get off this team. If you love something, you have to let it go
The problem with Burns is he doesn’t take over games to justify the price tag. Against the Colts, they were starting a backup rookie RT Blake Freeland and he didn’t disrupt anything the Colts were trying to do.
Every decision this offseason has to be about putting the necessary infrastructure around Bryce Young to allow him to be successful.
Potentially 30 mil a year for one guy that doesn’t take over games that could have been used to get a quality level Guard, Center, and TE.
The Panthers need to be targeting proven offensive players this offseason (Mike Evans, Tee Higgins) and use the draft to get young and hungry defensive players.
Lets not be idiots like the Washington 🗑️ whatever there fucking new name is and trade a superstar for nothing
I like him as a player and seems to be a very good locker room guy. Drafted under the rivera era and I definitely could see him having more success under Ron and the “keep pounding” regime.
That being said, 2 1st round picks on the table ALONG with not having to pay a massive contract…just seems to good to pass up and our idiot GM did. Would rather trade CMC for scraps and DJ for a QB with hopeless weapons around him.
Nah he just gets doubled in most pass rushing situations. That’s why it’s important to acquire another edge threat to complement his game
