I’ve been wondering what the best way to improve my WiFi speeds are. We get 900 download over ethernet but it’s not really feasible to drill holes in the wall to achieve this to my pc currently.

We only get between 200 and 300 download speeds over WiFi currently. What would be the best way to improve the WiFi speeds. Would it be to buy a mesh router in my room or to just get a better WiFi 6 router? (I currently have a bog standard BT router that came from my ISP)

If I do a speed test on my phone by the router I get just over 400 so the distance has some impact but it could be too many devices on the network impacting it too.

Open to suggestions.

    You’ve got 2 options really.

Upgrade the router to 6e but loose the landline (if that’s relevant) but the difference will probably be negligible at best due to antenna losses on the Mobo.

Keep the router and add a pair of 6e WiFi bridges / mesh and ethernet them in at each end. Have a tinker with them on best placement to keep the old man happy.
