I know people will get mad and downvote this, but realistically to get big talent you are gonna have to trade big talent. Mavs seem very close with kyrie but its yet to see how the season and injuries will play out. The mavericks have had a history of talented small guards than just never seemed to be enough, outside of jet terry coming off the bench in 2011, but i dont see kyrie taking tht 6th man assignment regardless of the situation. Nash, Tim hardaway, Nick Van Exel, Monta, have all been fun to watch, probably not quite the kai talent but Nash, TIm & Nick fairly close(probably in that order)
Im not a kyrie hater, if hes not hurt, he’s the highest level talent you can find, clutch end of game scorer, but clearly size and defensive match ups and potential injuries are a problem for playoff time.
Lets say you could trade kyrie and 1 player for another duo or even a single player good. Who would it be. Even if a bit optimistic but some what realisttic i.e. its gonna have to be a bad team or a team thats underperforming or just not built to get to a championship, the Grizz, the Raptors, the Magic, Washington, Utah, to name a few.
Or in your mind is Kyrie the perfect fit to win a ring with maybe 1 more solid big man that you could get for some pieces and pick-- looks like mavs have no 1s til 2029
You need someone beside Luka who can create for himself+others and is faster. So no, no to trade, not yet at least.
