-For starter, I love BMWs than any other German brand car. While I know that they are created with performance in mind, I still want my car to be fuel efficient. However it seems to be something BMW, and other German car manufacturers can’t get right. My first complaint is that they can’t make any hybrid that get at least 40mpg combined. I’m very light foot, so my current Accord could get at 50mpg easily. BMW have some PHEV models, but I could get that much only with the add-on battery range. That brings me to another point: they can’t even make a good PHEV car. When Japanese plug in hybrids depleted their batteries, they still drive like a hybrid with good mpg in the 35-40. BMW PHEVs like the 330e/530e drive just like a normal gas car, like 25mpg when the battery is empty. Why???

-Another problem is that most of their features are locked behind luxury packages. I expected a “luxury” brand to have some basic ones in the base models like adaptive cruise control. I looked at the factory options of the new 530i, it requires the top Executive package to get ACC. My 33k Honda already has it. I get that some features like head up display, 360 degree cameras could be considered luxury, but ACC is something even a Civic has, why not a car that cost twice that? And you know what’s worse? The 330i base model doesn’t even have keyless access entry. It’s locked behind the “convenience package”. And that car is at least 12k more expensive than my car.
