Rico looks more explosive, fast, and most importantly he can actually run in between the tackles some of it might have to do with McCarthys questionable run plays. Kind of reminds me of the situation last year zeke couldnt get many yards but then pollard would come in and rip off a run, now pollard gets stuffed for 2 and then rico rips off a run. If this is the case maybe pollard should stay as rb1 then let rico come in an rip a big run? Thoughts?

Remember back in the day when we had Felix Jones and Tayshard Choice? This is basically that situation all over again.

At the end of the day, unless you have a straight-up Ladanian Tomlinson/Marshal Faulk/LeSean McCoy type individual who can be shifty AND a no-shit glue-for-hands APY threat, your east-west homerun hitter is usually better in the change-of-pace role. If you have a North-South Halfback who ain’t afraid of hits and has a nose for daylight, put him at the RB1. Extra points if you have a 3rd back (either a tailback or fullback) who is your 4Q and short yardage guy, ala Marion Barber III (RIP).

Zeke, before the injuries ate him up, was that RB1 I was talking about. JJ letting the line age and fall apart is ultimately what wrecked Elliot, although we probably would have only gotten 2 more years out of him than we did. Tony was always supposed to excel as a change of pace. If he was the 2nd coming of LT, we would have known that 3 years ago.

If I am McCarthy, I put in Dowdle at RB1 to wear down the defense, Pollard at RB2 (which will keep his legs fresher anyway), and keep Vaugn at RB3.

For those of you who think I am full of malarkey, I challenge you to go look at the late 00’s NYG “Earth, Wind, and Fire” backfield. They had a 3 headed monster there for a while that was always rested and ready for any situation.
