Daniel Theis is a DNP in Indiana and could be a great backup center for the Mavs with very limited risk. He is an expiring contract with a team option next year, the perfect candidate for an experiment and should be available on the cheap. Theis had a great World Cup, being a central piece for the winning german team and the best defensive player in the tournament, while being able to shoot 3s. He has a great relationship with Dirk and seems to be a great fit on this team, what do you guys think?
What tf are these posts asking for another pf/c? There’s a reason why Theis isn’t playing lmao Dwight/Maxi are fine back ups for now. DeAndre Jordan was a backup for Denver last year and won the chip lmao
We need another Grant Williams off the bench or another lengthy wing with size. THJ and Green are too undersized for 3/4, especially when we need defense. Also, those two guys need to be really good and consistent if we want to win. OG, Lu Dort, Jerami Grant, Aaron Gordon… somewhere along these players but cheaper. Maybe Thybulle?
Maxi is not healthy and hasn’t been for like a year and a half. That’s the fundamental problem - Maxi’s role (a 3&D big) is exactly what we need given our struggles against larger teams like Minny and Denver. If we can get someone with more reliable health than Maxi, ideally without giving up any of our rotation, that’s a win.
No 6’8" backup centers are too small
Theis is not bad, but he certainly wouldn’t be my first target, and I don’t really see a trade that makes sense for both sides. Maybe you offer Holmes + SRP for Theis if there are no other options, but I don’t think the Pacers take it, and I don’t think the Mavs should offer any more.
The problem with this team, either we get an amazing center like capela or powell will still get minutes over whoever we get
