Hi everyone. After the announcement of the OLED version, I am very tempted to buy my first deck. But as the title suggests, would you take it knowing that the main reason why you are driven to do it is for a trip that you take about 1/2 times a year for 10 days in which you are bored? At home I have a series X and also GeForce now (I’m playing baldur’s gate). The older part of me (I’m 42) would say that it’s not worth it, that it would end up gathering dust, while the other part, the one that has never grown up, has already reached for its wallet. I accept advice

The OLED version looks like on fire, I wish I had it but it is not avaliable on my country and I already bought mine. I am 35 and while I have a PC, I don’t have time to play. I also bought BG3 and I think it is great but I can’t play it all due to being busy. SD plays BG3 decently well but let me say I won’t be playing much BG3 there. It just feels better to play on PC for me although I must admit SD has nice QOL settings for controller. However I recently bought Brotatos and it is so fun to play on a handheld device. Just sit on your couch and play all of these little-fun games that could be played well on controller. While you can surely connect a controller to pc, stream it on your tv and play on your couch, I think its much better to just grab SD, play those fast and fun games and get a lot of value for your time.

I bought mine just for a single long flight but I ended up using it regularly 😁

If that’s really all you use it for, I personally wouldn’t. But I use my Deck a lot more than just when travelling. I have a decently powerful PC - nothing range-topping, but 5900X + 3070, so no slouch either. But I use it a lot less since I got my Deck, it’s just so convenient for playing on the couch, in bed, or wherever I happen to be. I have an older LCD TV and decent but unremarkable IPS screens for my PC, so the OLED Deck will be by far the prettiest display I’ll have for gaming - I suspect I’ll be streaming from my PC more often where I might have played on it directly before.
