I’m not trying to shit on Palmer here because he’s been playing well, but all it takes for him are like 5 good performances to get in and meanwhile James Ward-Prowse is still not part of this team.

The fanfare is a bit much at the moment. All his goals have come from Pen’s and his assists were in 4-1 thrashings to Burnley and 9 man Spurs. The eye test tells you he’s a good player of course but people might be getting ahead of themselves.
That being said, JWP plays a different position/role which he’s competing with Henderson, Gallagher, Bellingham, and Trent; he’s a set piece specialist but outside of that he isn’t ahead of any of those apart from Henderson who plays in Saudi Pro League now but is one of Southgate’s favourites.
“Can’t believe [player] has been called up, what about [player who plays an entirely different position]”
So he replaces Maddison, who’s injured, and Mount has had an awful start at United.
Rashford and Phillips should not be in this squad. What’s the point in having Rashford right now, he’s so badly out of form and there are about four other good options even in this squad.
