Hi fellow redditor. I’ve been thinking about playing on of those moba. I’m new to pc moba games. Previously I’ve played mlbb and Aov in mobile. But non of them was as crazy ad dota where all hero is free to use and most of the Item has active skill. Plus there is no recall to base if ur expecting a gank. I was waiting to play dota for a long time but the complexity is way hard for me. All the guide are 1/2 hrs long. And a also a big pool hero which is really confusing for a new player. On the other hand I don’t know much about LoL aside from the fact that mlbb was lol’s knock of Give me ur thought also drop some suggestions for which hero to try as well

If you don’t care about competitive play, you can eventually enjoy both (like me 🙂)

I’d recommend dota to start as you can learn the fundamentals of A-RTS games here really well and it transfers over to LoL quite well… see PurgeGamers tutorial series. Start with new player mode, playing vs bots.

If you want to learn a game really well and plan to dedicate a lot of time and effort, DotA is absolutely the one and only good choice here. It’s the most intense and rewarding experience in any form of gaming!

LoL has a lot of balance issues and you need to pay money to unlock characters, which makes it less appealing as a competitive game in my opinion. But it’s definitely still worth playing just to get a taste of different flavors. Since you’ve already played mlbb, you kinda know what to expect…

if you are looking for a game: LEAGUE

if you are looking for a job/religion/life/masters degree: DOTA

try heroes in demo mode until you find a few you like

then go botmatches and play them a bit

if you feel comfortable on the map and using your skills go play vs people

i played thousands of lol games and im just sad i never gave dota a real chance until years later

For a fella who is playing a PC MOBA for the first time? Heroes of the Storm. It is the easiest to learn and get behind. It will help you get the feeling of the general controls and keybinds. With faster gameplay, you don’t have to worry spending 30+ minutes unwinnable game. You do bad? You lose. Let’s try again.

And once you got it figured out, you must figure what you enjoy in a MOBA.

Do you enjoy variety of Mechanics, more Tactical gameplay, and a lot of active items/abilities?

    Go for DOTA.

You enjoy fast-paced combat, mastery of your chosen champion, pulling out devastating combos in a simular vibe you will do in a fighting game?

    League of Legends.
