There was literally no better time to be a fan of the Seahawks than 2012-2013 seasons. Watching both the defense and offense gel into a juggernaut at the end of 2012 regular season (150 points in 3 weeks including a 58-0 shutout) to Super Bowl champs the next season. Watching Russ meet and exceed every possible expectation as a rookie, seeing the defense evolve into the Legion of Boom, and seeing all the potential we hoped for realized was just amazing. We then went into that offseason 100% we could beat anyone and literally did just that. Including a blowout win again what was a historically great offense led by an all time great QB at his peak.
I think we now go into every year hoping for the same. We see Geno and our hopes return to the last QB who came out and proved all of his doubters wrong. We see a defense with rookies and 2nd years starting all over the place and showing those flashes of greatness and hope that it just clicks one day.
I get all the doom and gloom after painful losses. I’m right there too. I keep waiting for that realization of potential where we blowout a team 58-0 and then do the unthinkable and drop another 100 points the next 2 weeks. Our potential feels that high and when we keep missing that, it’s hard not to swing hard the other way and assume we are terrible and not going anywhere.
I guess I’m not really trying to make a point here beyond saying, I get it. I think a lot of us are in this spot. Here’s hoping we get that gritty overtime win against a top contender that gets us asking, why not us. Where we look at our team and genuinely can’t imagine where our best football isn’t better than anyone elses. The pieces are there and I hope to get to witness another all time great Seahawks team.
