For me, it has to be “souls like”. I don’t get much time to game so when I do, I want linear stories that are challenging but not to the extent that I can’t move forward without dying 100 times.
Also, sims that encourage a lot of DLC purchases - I’m an old school gamer and games used to come with all of the content - for one price. Now it’s just a given we have to hand over more money for half the game content.
Soulslike - I don’t think my reflexes are good enough for incredibly difficult boss fights
Roguelike - I don’t really know what it is but it seems to involve a lot of repetition and doesn’t appeal to me. Open to my mind being changed by the right game but nothing has persuaded me yet
Roguelite - see above
FPS - was never good at them even in the original Doom days and just couldn’t get into them in any generation. Goldeneye, Halo, COD, just never got into them.
Whatever genre all those shitty NES-graphics overhead shooters are… I think of them as “_______ Survivor” because Vampire Survivor is the most successful example I know of
RTS - possibly related to the FPS thing, war games just never really did it for me
RTS RPGs - the worst part of RPGs is turn based battles, so this I would never
Card battlers - this applies to any game where the gameplay is based around cards, I think. Not very into card games in real life, even less so in videogames
Tower defence - basically RTS
